Description

Ubiquiti UniFi Flex Mini 3-Pack – Compact 5-Port Gigabit Managed Layer 2 Switches

The Ubiquiti UniFi Flex Mini 3-Pack provides three compact managed Gigabit Ethernet switches for expanding a UniFi network in home offices, businesses, entertainment areas, desks, network cabinets and other locations where additional wired Ethernet connections are required.

Each USW-Flex-Mini provides five 10/100/1000Mbps RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports, with Port 1 also supporting 802.3af/at PoE input. This means each switch can be powered directly through a compatible PoE network connection or from a separate 5V / 1A USB-C power supply.

The three-pack is especially useful for distributed UniFi deployments because the switches can be placed in different rooms or network locations while remaining centrally manageable through the UniFi Network application.

Despite its compact dimensions, each Flex Mini provides up to 10Gbps switching capacity, 5Gbps total non-blocking throughput and support for managed Layer 2 functions including VLANs, port isolation, port mirroring, rate limiting, flow control, storm control and jumbo frames.

Three UniFi Flex Mini Switches in One Pack

The USW-FLEX-MINI-3 package contains three individual UniFi Flex Mini switches.

This can be more convenient than installing one larger switch when Ethernet connectivity is needed in several different locations.

For example, one Flex Mini could be installed near a desktop PC or home-office desk, another beside a television or games console, and a third in another room where several wired devices need access to the network.

How Many Switches Are Included?

Three individual USW-Flex-Mini switches are included.

The technical specifications such as five ports, 10Gbps switching capacity, 150g weight and 2.5W maximum consumption apply to each individual switch.

How Many Ethernet Ports Do I Get in Total?

Each switch has five Gigabit Ethernet ports, so the pack physically provides 15 RJ45 ports across three switches.

In a typical installation, however, one port on each switch will normally be used as its uplink to the rest of the network, leaving the remaining ports available for connected devices.

Five Gigabit Ethernet Ports per Switch

Each UniFi Flex Mini includes five RJ45 Ethernet ports supporting:

  • 10Mbps Ethernet
  • 100Mbps Fast Ethernet
  • 1000Mbps / 1Gbps Gigabit Ethernet

The ports automatically negotiate the appropriate supported link speed with connected equipment.

Are All Five Ports Gigabit?

Yes. All five RJ45 interfaces support up to 1Gbps Ethernet.

Port 1 has the additional ability to receive compatible PoE power, but it still operates as a normal Gigabit Ethernet data port.

10Gbps Switching Capacity

Ubiquiti specifies each Flex Mini with a total 10Gbps switching capacity.

This represents the switch fabric's aggregate bidirectional switching capability across its five Gigabit interfaces.

Ubiquiti also specifies approximately:

  • 5Gbps total non-blocking throughput
  • 7Mpps forwarding rate

Does the Flex Mini Have a 10Gbps Ethernet Port?

No. The 10Gbps figure refers to the internal switching capacity, not the speed of an individual Ethernet interface.

Each physical RJ45 port supports a maximum negotiated Ethernet speed of 1Gbps.

Power the Flex Mini Using PoE

Port 1 supports IEEE 802.3af/at Power over Ethernet input, allowing the Flex Mini to receive both network connectivity and electrical power through a compatible Ethernet connection.

Ubiquiti specifies a PoE input voltage range of approximately 44–57V DC.

This can simplify installation because a separate mains power adapter is not required when an appropriate PoE source is already available.

Which Port Accepts PoE?

Port 1 is the PoE input port.

It supports normal 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet data and compatible 802.3af/at PoE power on the same connection.

Can the Flex Mini Be Powered by PoE+?

Yes. Ubiquiti specifies support for both 802.3af PoE and 802.3at PoE+ as input power methods.

The switch itself uses only the power it requires; a compatible PoE+ source does not force its full available wattage into the device.

USB-C Power Option

If PoE is not available, each Flex Mini can alternatively be powered through its USB Type-C power port.

Ubiquiti specifies a:

  • 5V DC nominal USB-C supply
  • 1A power-adapter rating
  • Supported USB input range around 4.8–5.2V in the current technical specification

Does USB-C Carry Network Data?

No. The USB-C connection on the Flex Mini is for power only.

Network connectivity is provided through the five RJ45 Ethernet ports.

Important: USB-C Power Adapters Are Not Included in the 3-Pack

The USW-FLEX-MINI-3 three-pack does not include the 5V / 1A USB-C power adapters.

Ubiquiti specifically states that the USB-C adapter is included only with single-unit purchases of the Flex Mini.

For this three-pack, plan to power each switch using either:

  • A compatible 802.3af/at PoE connection on Port 1; or
  • A suitable 5V / 1A USB-C power supply purchased separately.

Do I Need Three Power Supplies?

If none of the three switches will be powered by PoE, then each switch needs its own compatible USB-C power source.

If one or more switches are powered by PoE, those units do not require separate USB-C power adapters.

PoE Input – Not PoE Output

The Flex Mini accepts power through Ethernet on Port 1, but it does not provide PoE output to other devices.

This distinction is important when connecting access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones or other devices that require PoE power.

Can the Flex Mini Power a UniFi Access Point?

No. The USW-Flex-Mini does not supply PoE output.

An access point requiring PoE must receive power from a suitable PoE switch, injector or other supported power source.

Can It Power a PoE Security Camera?

No. Its Ethernet interfaces are data ports, while Port 1 additionally accepts PoE into the switch.

There is no PoE budget for powering downstream devices.

Managed Layer 2 UniFi Switch

The USW-Flex-Mini is a managed Layer 2 switch designed to integrate with the UniFi networking ecosystem.

Rather than configuring each switch through a separate standalone web interface, UniFi devices can be adopted and managed from the UniFi Network application.

What Does a Managed Switch Do?

A managed switch provides configuration and monitoring options beyond the basic Ethernet forwarding offered by a simple unmanaged switch.

On the current Flex Mini platform, Ubiquiti lists managed Layer 2 functions including:

  • VLAN support
  • Port isolation
  • Port mirroring
  • Egress rate limits
  • Flow control
  • Storm control
  • Multicast and broadcast rate limiting
  • Jumbo frames

Support for up to 1,000 VLANs

Ubiquiti's current technical specification lists support for up to 1,000 VLANs.

VLANs allow compatible managed networks to separate traffic logically even when devices share the same physical switching infrastructure.

For example, a network administrator could use separate VLANs for:

  • Business computers
  • Guest devices
  • IoT equipment
  • Security cameras
  • VoIP systems
  • Management traffic

Does the Flex Mini Support VLANs?

Yes. VLAN support is included in Ubiquiti's current Flex Mini specification and can be configured as part of a suitable UniFi network deployment.

Actual VLAN design and configuration depend on the wider router, gateway and network infrastructure.

Port Isolation

The current Flex Mini software feature set includes port isolation.

Port isolation can help prevent devices connected to selected switch ports from communicating directly with one another while still allowing permitted network access according to the wider configuration.

This can be useful in guest, IoT or other segmented-network scenarios.

Port Mirroring

Ubiquiti also lists port mirroring among the Flex Mini's current Layer 2 capabilities.

Port mirroring copies supported network traffic from a selected port or traffic source to another port for inspection.

This is commonly useful for troubleshooting, packet analysis and network diagnostics.

Rate Limiting and Storm Control

The Flex Mini supports egress rate limiting, allowing administrators to control outbound bandwidth where the feature is appropriate to the network design.

It also supports storm control plus multicast and broadcast rate limiting.

These controls can help reduce the effect of excessive broadcast or multicast traffic on a local Ethernet segment.

Jumbo Frame Support

Ubiquiti's current feature list includes support for jumbo frames.

Jumbo frames allow Ethernet frames larger than the conventional standard MTU where every relevant device and network path is configured compatibly.

Should I Enable Jumbo Frames?

Only enable jumbo frames where your entire intended network path supports and requires them.

For normal internet access, office networking, streaming and general home use, standard Ethernet frame sizes are normally sufficient.

Managed Through UniFi Network

The Flex Mini is designed to be adopted and managed through the UniFi Network application.

Ubiquiti currently specifies UniFi Network version 5.12.5 or later as the application requirement for the Flex Mini.

Using UniFi Network allows administrators to manage supported switches alongside other UniFi networking equipment from a central interface.

Do I Need UniFi Network to Configure the Switch?

Yes, UniFi Network is the intended management platform for configuration and monitoring.

If you want to use the managed features, VLAN configuration, monitoring and centralised administration, the switch should be adopted into a compatible UniFi Network deployment.

Does It Have a Traditional Standalone Web Interface?

The Flex Mini is designed around UniFi Network management rather than a conventional independent switch-management webpage.

This makes it particularly suitable for users already operating UniFi infrastructure or planning a centrally managed UniFi network.

Useful for Expanding a UniFi Home Network

The compact five-port design makes the Flex Mini useful where only a few additional Ethernet connections are needed.

Potential home-network uses include connecting:

  • Desktop PCs
  • Smart televisions
  • Games consoles
  • Streaming devices
  • Network printers
  • NAS devices
  • Media players
  • Non-PoE smart-home hubs
  • Other wired Ethernet devices

Is the Flex Mini Suitable Behind a TV?

Yes, where adequate ventilation and power are available.

Its compact dimensions can make it convenient for connecting several Ethernet devices around a television or entertainment system using one existing network connection.

Useful for Home Offices and Desks

A single Ethernet cable arriving at a desk can be expanded into multiple Gigabit connections using a Flex Mini.

This can provide wired connectivity for combinations such as:

  • Desktop PC
  • Laptop dock
  • Printer
  • VoIP handset with its own power source
  • NAS or local storage

The three-pack allows the same compact switching approach to be deployed at several desks or rooms.

Useful for Small Business Networks

For small businesses already using UniFi, the Flex Mini provides a straightforward way to add a small number of managed Ethernet ports without installing another full-size rack switch.

Because the switches can be centrally adopted into UniFi Network, administrators can retain visibility and supported management functions across distributed locations.

Compact 107 x 70 x 21mm Design

Each Flex Mini measures approximately:

  • Width / length: 107mm
  • Depth: 70mm
  • Height: 21mm
  • Weight: approximately 150g

The small footprint makes it much easier to position on a desk, shelf or behind other networking equipment than a conventional rackmount switch.

Is the Flex Mini Rackmount?

No. Ubiquiti classifies the Flex Mini as a compact desktop switch.

It does not include a conventional 19-inch rackmount chassis.

Fanless Low-Power Operation

The Flex Mini is designed without an active cooling fan, making it suitable for quiet environments such as bedrooms, offices and media areas.

Ubiquiti specifies a maximum power consumption of approximately 2.5W per switch.

How Much Power Does the 3-Pack Use?

Each individual switch has a maximum specified consumption of 2.5W.

If all three were simultaneously operating at that maximum device consumption, their combined switch consumption would be approximately 7.5W, excluding inefficiencies in any external power supplies or upstream PoE equipment.

Polycarbonate Enclosure

Ubiquiti uses a polycarbonate enclosure for the Flex Mini.

The current model is finished in white and designed primarily for compact indoor desktop deployment.

Operating Temperature and Humidity

Ubiquiti specifies an operating environment of approximately:

  • Temperature: -5°C to 45°C
  • Humidity: 10% to 90% non-condensing

The Flex Mini should be installed where adequate ventilation is available and should not be treated as an outdoor-weatherproof switch.

Can the Flex Mini Be Installed Outdoors?

It is not specified as an outdoor-ready product.

For outdoor networking installations, use equipment specifically designed and rated for the intended environmental conditions.

ESD Protection

Ubiquiti specifies ESD protection of approximately:

  • Air discharge: ±16kV
  • Contact discharge: ±12kV

This is an electrical-protection specification and does not make the switch weatherproof or immune to electrical damage.

Status and Ethernet LEDs

Each switch includes a system status indicator and Ethernet port indicators.

The RJ45 LEDs provide information about link speed and network activity.

According to Ubiquiti's installation documentation:

  • Amber indicates a 10/100Mbps connection
  • Green indicates a 1000Mbps / Gigabit connection
  • Flashing indicates network activity

No SFP or SFP+ Ports

The Flex Mini is designed entirely around copper RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet.

It does not include:

  • SFP ports
  • SFP+ ports
  • 10GbE uplinks
  • 2.5GbE ports

Does the Flex Mini Support 2.5Gbps Ethernet?

No. Its RJ45 ports support 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet, with a maximum link rate of 1Gbps per port.

Users requiring 2.5GbE should choose an appropriate multi-gigabit UniFi switch instead.

No WiFi Built In

The Flex Mini is an Ethernet switch rather than a wireless access point.

It does not create its own WiFi network.

If wireless connectivity is needed, a compatible wireless access point or router must be connected elsewhere in the network.

Flex Mini vs UniFi Flex – Important Difference

The USW-Flex-Mini should not be confused with the larger USW-Flex.

Although both products have five Ethernet ports, they serve different purposes.

The Flex Mini:

  • Is a compact indoor desktop switch
  • Has five 1GbE ports
  • Accepts PoE input on Port 1
  • Does not provide PoE output
  • Can alternatively use USB-C power

The larger UniFi Flex is a different model designed with downstream PoE output capabilities and outdoor-oriented deployment features.

Can I Use Flex Mini Instead of USW-Flex to Power Cameras?

No. If downstream PoE output is required, the Flex Mini is not the appropriate substitute.

Who Is the UniFi Flex Mini 3-Pack Best For?

  • Existing UniFi network users
  • Home offices needing extra Gigabit ports
  • Small business networks
  • Entertainment centres
  • Distributed desk installations
  • Users needing several small managed switches

Why Choose the Ubiquiti UniFi Flex Mini 3-Pack?

The Ubiquiti UniFi Flex Mini 3-Pack is a practical way to extend a managed UniFi Ethernet network into several separate rooms or device clusters without installing full-size switches at every location.

Each compact switch provides five Gigabit Ethernet ports, 10Gbps switching capacity and UniFi-managed Layer 2 functions including VLAN support, port isolation, port mirroring, rate controls and jumbo frames.

Dual power options provide deployment flexibility. Port 1 can receive standard 802.3af/at PoE, allowing data and power to arrive over the same Ethernet cable, while a separate 5V USB-C supply can be used when PoE is unavailable.

The low 2.5W maximum power consumption, fanless compact enclosure and approximately 107 x 70 x 21mm dimensions make each Flex Mini particularly useful at desks, television areas, small offices and other locations where a larger switch would be unnecessary.

For users already running UniFi Network, the biggest advantage is centralised management: several small switches deployed around a property or business can remain part of the same UniFi management environment rather than behaving as unrelated standalone switches.

For a home, office or small-business network that requires three compact 5-port managed Gigabit switches with VLAN support, PoE input and UniFi Network integration, the USW-FLEX-MINI-3 provides a simple and space-efficient way to expand wired connectivity.

Important 3-Pack Power Adapter Note

The USW-FLEX-MINI-3 does not include USB-C power adapters. Ubiquiti's official documentation states that the 5V / 1A USB-C adapter is included only with single-unit purchases of the USW-Flex-Mini.

Each switch in this three-pack therefore requires either a compatible 802.3af/at PoE connection on Port 1 or a suitable 5V / 1A USB-C power source.

Important PoE Input / Output Note

The UniFi Flex Mini supports PoE input only. Port 1 can receive 802.3af/at power to operate the switch, but none of the ports provide PoE output.

The Flex Mini therefore cannot directly power PoE access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones or other powered devices.

Important Gigabit Port Note

All five RJ45 interfaces support up to 1Gbps Ethernet. The published 10Gbps switching capacity describes the switch's aggregate internal switching capability and does not indicate a 10Gbps physical Ethernet port.

Important VLAN & Management Note

Ubiquiti's current specification lists support for up to 1,000 VLANs together with port isolation, port mirroring, egress rate limiting, flow control, storm control, multicast / broadcast rate limiting and jumbo frames.

The Flex Mini is designed to be centrally managed through UniFi Network. It should not be confused with a conventional standalone unmanaged Ethernet switch.

Important Flex Mini vs UniFi Flex Note

The USW-Flex-Mini is a different product from the larger USW-Flex. The Flex Mini accepts PoE power but provides no downstream PoE output, whereas the larger USW-Flex is designed with PoE output functionality for compatible powered devices.

Important Indoor Use Note

The Flex Mini has an operating range of -5°C to 45°C and 10–90% non-condensing humidity. Ubiquiti does not list this model as outdoor-ready, so it should not be treated as a weatherproof outdoor networking switch.

No. The Flex Mini is an Ethernet switch, not an internet router or firewall. You still need a router or gateway to provide functions such as internet routing, DHCP, NAT and firewall policies.

16. Does the Flex Mini provide DHCP addresses?

No. DHCP would normally be provided by your router, UniFi gateway or another DHCP server. The Flex Mini forwards network traffic between connected devices but is not intended to act as the network's DHCP server.

17. How is the UniFi Flex Mini powered?

Each switch can be powered either through its PoE input Ethernet port or through a compatible 5V USB-C power source.

18. Are USB-C power adapters included with the USW-FLEX-MINI-3?

No. Ubiquiti specifies that USB-C power adapters are included only with single-unit Flex Mini purchases. The three-pack does not include USB-C power supplies, so each switch requires either compatible PoE input or a separately sourced compatible USB-C power supply.

19. What USB-C power specification does the Flex Mini require?

Ubiquiti specifies a 5V DC, 1A USB-C power supply. The switch itself consumes a maximum of approximately 2.5W.

20. Can I power the Flex Mini with a normal USB-C charger?

A suitable regulated USB-C power source that provides the required approximately 5V/1A specification may be used. Check the charger's output specifications rather than assuming every USB-C charger supplies the correct voltage and behaviour.

21. Can the Flex Mini be powered through PoE?

Yes. One Ethernet port supports 802.3af/at PoE input, allowing the switch to receive both network data and electrical power through the same Ethernet cable.

22. Which port is used for PoE input?

Port 1 provides the PoE input function. When the switch is PoE-powered, this port normally connects to the upstream PoE switch or compatible PoE injector and carries network data at the same time.

23. Does PoE use up Port 1 for data?

No. When Port 1 powers the Flex Mini through PoE, it simultaneously carries Ethernet data. It will normally function as the switch's network uplink while providing power to the switch.

24. Which PoE standards does the Flex Mini accept?

Ubiquiti specifies 802.3af/at active PoE input with an operating range of approximately 44–57V DC.

25. Can I power the Flex Mini with a 24V passive PoE injector?

No. The Flex Mini is specified for standard 802.3af/at active PoE rather than 24V passive PoE. Use a compatible active PoE source that meets Ubiquiti's stated requirements.

26. Does the UniFi Flex Mini provide PoE output?

No. The PoE connection on the Flex Mini is power input only. The switch can receive power through Ethernet but does not provide PoE power to devices connected to its other ports.

27. Can the Flex Mini power a UniFi access point?

No. Although an access point can carry network traffic through the Flex Mini, the Flex Mini cannot supply PoE to it. A separate PoE switch, injector or other suitable power source is required for a PoE-powered access point.

28. Can the Flex Mini power a PoE security camera?

No. It has no PoE output capability. A PoE camera connected to the Flex Mini would need its own compatible power source or must connect through equipment capable of supplying PoE.

29. What is the maximum power consumption of the Flex Mini?

Each switch consumes a maximum of approximately 2.5W, making it a very low-power network expansion device.

30. Is the UniFi Flex Mini fanless?

Yes. The Flex Mini uses a compact fanless design, so there is no cooling fan generating mechanical noise.

31. Is the Flex Mini silent?

Because it has no cooling fan, the switch operates silently in normal use, making it suitable for bedrooms, home offices, TV cabinets and desks where fan noise would be undesirable.

32. What are the dimensions of each Flex Mini?

Each switch measures approximately 107 x 70 x 21mm, making it small enough for discreet desktop, shelf or entertainment-centre installations.

33. How much does each Flex Mini weigh?

Each switch weighs approximately 150g.

34. What is the Flex Mini enclosure made from?

Ubiquiti specifies a polycarbonate enclosure for the Flex Mini.

The Flex Mini is designed as a compact indoor desktop switch and is not specified as an outdoor-ready weatherproof switch. For exposed outdoor installation, use networking equipment specifically rated for outdoor environments.

36. What is the operating temperature range?

Ubiquiti specifies an operating temperature range of approximately -5°C to 45°C with 10–90% non-condensing relative humidity.

37. Do I need a UniFi Dream Machine to use the Flex Mini?

No. A UniFi Dream Machine or UniFi Cloud Gateway is not mandatory. The switch can be used on networks with third-party routers, although managed UniFi features require access to a compatible UniFi Network controller/application.

38. Can I use the Flex Mini with pfSense, OPNsense or another router?

Yes. The Flex Mini can operate on networks using third-party routers such as pfSense, OPNsense or conventional ISP routers. UniFi Network can be hosted separately when you want to adopt and manage the switch.

39. Can I use the Flex Mini without any other Ubiquiti hardware?

Yes. For basic Ethernet switching, the Flex Mini can function on a network without another Ubiquiti device. To configure and monitor managed UniFi features, install or provide access to UniFi Network.

40. Will the Flex Mini work as a basic unmanaged switch before adoption?

Yes. It can provide basic plug-and-play Ethernet connectivity before being adopted. Adopting it into UniFi Network adds central configuration, monitoring and managed features such as VLAN assignments.

41. What software manages the UniFi Flex Mini?

The switch is managed through UniFi Network, either on compatible UniFi consoles or gateways or through another supported UniFi Network installation.

42. What version of UniFi Network is required?

Ubiquiti's current specification lists UniFi Network 5.12.5 or later as the minimum application requirement. Using a current supported version is recommended for firmware and feature compatibility.

43. Do all three switches have to be installed in the same place?

No. The three switches are independent devices. For example, one can be installed beside a television, one in a home office and another beside a desktop or entertainment system, provided each has network connectivity and a suitable power source.

44. Are the three Flex Minis managed separately?

Yes. Each switch is an individual UniFi device with its own identity and ports. When adopted into the same UniFi Network site, all three can be monitored and configured from the same management interface.

45. Does the Flex Mini support VLANs?

Yes. Ubiquiti's current technical specification lists support for up to 1,000 VLANs. VLAN configuration is managed through UniFi Network and allows compatible networks to separate groups of connected devices.

46. Can I assign different VLANs to different Flex Mini ports?

Yes, supported UniFi Network configurations allow switch ports to be assigned to virtual networks/VLANs. This makes the Flex Mini useful for simple segmentation such as separating an IoT device, work computer or entertainment equipment onto different networks.

47. Can the Flex Mini carry tagged VLAN traffic?

Yes, VLAN traffic can be carried through the switch according to the configured UniFi port and network settings. For advanced VLAN combinations, specialised trunk requirements or complex enterprise designs, check that the Flex Mini's available port configuration options meet the intended topology before deployment.

48. Why can adopting a Flex Mini on a management VLAN sometimes be difficult?

For adoption, the switch must be able to communicate with its UniFi Network controller. Firewall rules, VLAN isolation or an incorrect native network can prevent this communication. A common troubleshooting approach is to adopt the switch on a reachable network first, then configure the required management network while maintaining controller connectivity.

49. Does the Flex Mini support port isolation?

Yes. Ubiquiti's current technical specification lists port isolation as a supported Layer 2 feature. Port isolation can prevent selected devices on the same switch from communicating directly with each other when correctly configured.

50. Does the Flex Mini support port mirroring?

Yes. Port mirroring is listed among the current supported Layer 2 features, allowing traffic to be copied to another switch port for compatible monitoring or diagnostic applications.

51. Does the Flex Mini support storm control?

Yes. Ubiquiti currently lists storm control and multicast/broadcast rate limiting among the supported Flex Mini Layer 2 features.

52. Does the Flex Mini support flow control?

Yes. Ethernet flow control is listed as a supported feature.

53. Does the Flex Mini support jumbo frames?

Yes. Ubiquiti's current technical specification lists jumbo-frame support among the Flex Mini's Layer 2 features. All devices in the data path should be correctly configured if jumbo frames are used.

54. Can I limit the bandwidth of an individual Flex Mini port?

Yes. Ubiquiti currently lists egress rate limiting as a supported feature, allowing outgoing traffic from a port to be limited through compatible UniFi configuration.

55. Does the original Gigabit Flex Mini support configurable STP/RSTP?

Ubiquiti's current technical specification for the original USW-Flex-Mini does not list configurable STP/RSTP among its supported Layer 2 features. If your network design specifically depends on configurable spanning-tree priorities or advanced loop-management behaviour, consider a UniFi switch model that explicitly provides those features.

56. Can network loops cause problems with a Flex Mini?

Yes. As with Ethernet networks generally, connecting switches or devices in a way that creates an uncontrolled Layer 2 loop can cause serious network disruption. Avoid redundant Ethernet paths unless the network equipment and topology are specifically configured to manage them.

57. Can I connect Sonos devices to a Flex Mini?

Yes, Sonos devices can use normal Ethernet connections through the switch. However, installations where wired and wireless Sonos paths create network loops require careful network design. If spanning-tree configuration is important to your Sonos topology, a more fully featured switch may be preferable.

58. Does the Flex Mini support LACP or link aggregation?

The original USW-Flex-Mini is not designed for LACP link aggregation. If your NAS, server or upstream network requires aggregated Ethernet links, choose a switch model that explicitly supports link aggregation.

59. Can I connect a NAS to the UniFi Flex Mini?

Yes. A NAS with a standard 10/100/1000 Ethernet interface can connect normally. Each individual Flex Mini Ethernet port is limited to a 1Gbps link, so users requiring multi-gigabit NAS transfers should consider a 2.5GbE or faster switch.

60. Is the Flex Mini good for gaming consoles?

Yes. It is useful for connecting Ethernet-equipped consoles, gaming PCs, televisions and streaming devices where Gigabit Ethernet is sufficient. The switch itself does not reduce normal Gigabit network performance when correctly configured.

61. Is the Flex Mini suitable behind a TV or entertainment centre?

Yes. Its compact, silent design is particularly useful where one Ethernet cable reaches an entertainment centre but several wired devices such as a smart TV, console, streaming box and media player need network connections.

62. Is the Flex Mini useful in a home office?

Yes. A single network connection can be expanded to provide wired Gigabit connections for devices such as a desktop PC, laptop dock, VoIP equipment, printer or NAS, subject to the five-port limit.

63. Can I connect another Ethernet switch to a Flex Mini?

Yes. Another switch can be connected to one of its Ethernet ports to expand the network further. Remember that traffic between the downstream switch and the rest of the network shares the Gigabit uplink between the two switches.

64. Can I daisy-chain several Flex Mini switches?

Yes, but every additional downstream switch shares the bandwidth of its upstream Gigabit link. Avoid creating a circular connection between switches because this can create a Layer 2 network loop.

65. What Ethernet cable should I use with the Flex Mini?

Good-quality Cat5e or better Ethernet cabling is sufficient for standard Gigabit Ethernet over normal supported cable distances. Cat6 or higher cable can also be used and may be preferable when installing new structured cabling.

66. What should I do if my Flex Mini will not appear for adoption?

Confirm that the switch has power, has received an IP address and can communicate with the UniFi Network controller. Check VLAN and firewall rules, update UniFi Network if required and try placing the switch temporarily on the same reachable management network as the controller. If necessary, factory-reset the switch and attempt adoption again.

67. How do I factory-reset a UniFi Flex Mini?

With the switch powered on, use the reset control according to Ubiquiti's reset procedure until the device returns to factory-default status. After reset it can be rediscovered and adopted into UniFi Network. Resetting removes the switch's existing configuration.

68. Can the Flex Mini firmware be updated remotely?

Yes. Once adopted, firmware management can be handled through UniFi Network, allowing administrators to monitor and update supported UniFi devices from the central management interface.

69. How large is the MAC address table?

Ubiquiti's current specification lists a 2,000-entry MAC address table for the Flex Mini.

70. UniFi Flex Mini vs UniFi Flex – what is the difference?

Both are compact five-port UniFi switches, but they serve different purposes. The Flex Mini is a low-power indoor Gigabit switch that can receive PoE but provides no PoE output. The larger UniFi Flex is designed for more demanding deployments and can provide PoE output to compatible downstream devices when supplied with sufficient PoE input power.

71. UniFi Flex Mini 1GbE vs Flex Mini 2.5G – which should I choose?

The original Flex Mini in this three-pack provides five Gigabit Ethernet ports and is appropriate where devices require up to 1Gbps connectivity. A Flex 2.5G model is more appropriate when your computers, NAS, access points or internet connection need multi-gigabit wired speeds. Check the exact 2.5G model's features because it is a separate product.

72. Who is the UniFi Flex Mini NOT suitable for?

The Flex Mini is not ideal if you require PoE output for cameras or access points, Ethernet speeds above 1Gbps, LACP link aggregation, advanced configurable spanning-tree features, outdoor weatherproof installation or Layer 3 routing. In those cases, choose a UniFi switch specifically offering the required capability.

73. What is included with the UniFi Flex Mini 3-Pack?

The USW-FLEX-MINI-3 package contains three UniFi Flex Mini switches. USB-C power adapters are not included with the three-pack, so each switch must be powered from compatible 802.3af/at PoE or an appropriate separately purchased 5V/1A USB-C power source.
