Important PCIe 4.0 Information

PCIe 4.0 capability depends on the processor. Compatible Vermeer / Ryzen 5000 and Matisse / Ryzen 3000 desktop CPUs support PCIe 4.0 on the primary graphics slot and M2_1.

Ryzen G-Series APUs use different PCIe configurations and should not automatically be assumed to provide PCIe 4.0.

Important M.2 Speed Information

The two M.2 storage sockets do not provide equal performance.

M2_1 can provide up to PCIe 4.0 x4, while M2_2 is limited to PCIe 3.0 x2 for NVMe or SATA3 for a SATA M.2 SSD.

Important Ryzen 5 3400G and Ryzen 3 3200G Compatibility Note

Older launch-era documentation and some retailer listings state that the Ryzen 5 3400G and Ryzen 3 3200G are not compatible with the B550M Pro4.

ASRock's current CPU Support List now lists both processors as supported with BIOS P2.10. The current ASRock CPU database should therefore be used instead of the older launch-era compatibility warning.

Important CPU and BIOS Compatibility Note

AM4 socket compatibility alone does not guarantee that every AM4 processor will boot with every BIOS version.

Before installing a processor, check the exact CPU model against ASRock's current B550M Pro4 CPU Support List and confirm the minimum BIOS revision required.

For example, ASRock currently lists the Ryzen 7 5800X3D from BIOS P2.30 and the Ryzen 7 5700X3D from BIOS P3.20.

Important PCIe 4.0 Note

PCIe 4.0 availability depends on the installed processor.

With compatible Ryzen 5000 / Vermeer and Ryzen 3000 / Matisse desktop CPUs, PCIE1 operates at PCIe 4.0 x16 and M2_1 can operate at PCIe 4.0 x4.

With Cezanne and Renoir G-Series APUs, the CPU-connected interfaces operate at PCIe 3.0. Supported Picasso APUs operate PCIE1 at PCIe 3.0 x8.

Important M2_1 Speed Note

The primary Hyper M.2 socket, M2_1, supports M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe SSDs.

It operates up to PCIe 4.0 x4 / 64Gb/s theoretical interface bandwidth with compatible Vermeer and Matisse CPUs, or PCIe 3.0 x4 / 32Gb/s with compatible Cezanne, Renoir and Picasso APUs.

ASRock specifically states that NVMe SSD operation is not supported with AMD Athlon 3000G processors on this motherboard.

Important Integrated Graphics Note

The motherboard's HDMI, DisplayPort and D-Sub outputs require a compatible processor with integrated Radeon graphics.

A Ryzen CPU without integrated graphics will require a dedicated graphics card for display output.

Important Display Resolution Note

Maximum published resolutions such as HDMI 4096 × 2160 at 60Hz and DisplayPort 5120 × 2880 at 120Hz depend on the installed processor graphics, monitor, cable and operating configuration.

They should not be interpreted as guaranteed output capabilities with every supported AM4 processor.

Important WiFi and Bluetooth Note

The B550M Pro4 includes an M.2 Key-E socket for an optional type-2230 WiFi/Bluetooth module, but the standard motherboard does not include WiFi or Bluetooth hardware.

The antenna mounting bracket on the rear I/O should not be interpreted as meaning that a wireless module or antennas are supplied.

Important Audio Note

ASRock's current specification lists the onboard audio codec as Realtek ALC1220 / ALC1200. It is safest to retain this manufacturer wording rather than guarantee only one codec variant.

The rear panel has three analogue audio jacks even though the codec supports up to 7.1-channel HD Audio. Audio connection configuration can therefore depend on the selected speaker setup and front-panel audio connections.

Important USB-C Note

The rear USB-C connector is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 data port rated up to 10Gb/s.
