The Ubiquiti UX7 UniFi Express 7 is perfect when you want “one small box” to run and expand a UniFi network. Use it as your primary router/gateway with UniFi security features, or adopt it as a wired or wireless UniFi access point (Layer 2) to extend coverage as part of a mesh. Either way, you keep everything centrally managed inside the UniFi ecosystem.

What is the UniFi Express 7 (UX7)?
A mesh-scalable, super-compact Cloud Gateway with integrated Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be). It combines routing, security, UniFi Network management and a tri-band access point in one unit.
Which Wi-Fi bands and speeds does it support?
Tri-band 2×2: 6 GHz up to 5.7 Gbps, 5 GHz up to 4.3 Gbps, 2.4 GHz up to 688 Mbps (PHY link rates; actual throughput depends on client, channel width and environment).
What wired ports are on the UX7?
1× 10 GbE RJ45 (default WAN) and 1× 2.5 GbE RJ45 (LAN). WAN/LAN roles can be adjusted in UniFi as needed.
How many devices/users can it handle?
Designed to manage 30+ UniFi devices (APs, switches, cameras, etc.) and serve 300+ simultaneous users in typical deployments.
What’s the security performance?

Does it support Wi-Fi 6/6E and older clients?
Yes — it’s backward compatible with Wi-Fi 6/6E/5/4 clients while enabling Wi-Fi 7 benefits for newer devices.
Do I need a Wi-Fi 7 client to benefit?
To see top-end speeds and lower latency, you’ll want Wi-Fi 7 clients. Older devices still connect normally and often see stability and capacity improvements.
Is 6 GHz (Wi-Fi 6E/7) available in my region?
6 GHz requires regional approval, a Wi-Fi 6E/7-capable client, up-to-date drivers/OS, and appropriate UniFi settings. Where 6 GHz isn’t allowed, the UX7 uses 2.4/5 GHz.
What UniFi software/version is required?
Works with UniFi Network v9.0.108+ (or newer). Setup and ongoing management are in the UniFi Network application or mobile app.
Can UX7 replace my router and also mesh with other UniFi APs?
Yes. Use it as your gateway + AP, and add more UniFi APs for wider coverage. It also supports mesh to extend Wi-Fi without new cabling.
What’s the coverage area?
Up to ~160 m² per unit in typical open layouts (actual coverage varies with walls, construction and interference).
Power, size and mounting?
Powered by the included USB-C 5V/5A adapter. Compact desktop design 117 × 117 × 42.5 mm with a small status display; desk stand/mount options available.
Does it support VPN and WAN failover?
Yes — includes WireGuard/OpenVPN/IPsec server/client, Site-to-Site (Site Magic) and optional LTE Backup for failover (with supported modem/service).
What is CyberSecure and do I need it?
CyberSecure is an optional Ubiquiti add-on (powered by Proofpoint) that expands threat signatures (20k+) and filters. It’s subscription-based; the UX7 works without it, but security features are enhanced with it.
Can I wall-mount it or use it as AP-only?
Yes — the UX7 can be desk-mounted or placed vertically with its stand. It also supports AP-only mode if you want another UniFi gateway to handle routing.
