FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
1. Which motherboard sizes fit the Define C?
ATX, micro-ATX and Mini-ITX boards all install on the standard 7-slot tray.
2. How many fans come pre-installed, and how many can I add?
Two 120 mm Dynamic X2 GP-12 fans are factory-fitted (front + rear). There are 7 total mounts: front 3 × 120 / 2 × 140, top 2 × 120 / 140, rear 1 × 120, bottom 1 × 120.
3. What radiator sizes are supported?
Front: up to 360 mm or 280 mm
Top: up to 240 mm (motherboard components ≤ 40 mm tall)
Rear: 120 mm
All lengths assume standard 25 mm-thick fans.
4. What’s the maximum graphics-card length?
315 mm with a front fan installed (25 mm thick) or 340 mm if you remove the fan; subtract radiator + fan thickness if you water-cool the front.
5. How tall can the CPU air-cooler be?
Up to 170 mm (175 mm clearance recommended in Fractal’s spec sheet).
6. Does the Define C include dust filters?
Yes—nylon filters cover the front, PSU/bottom and top. The top filter is optional when you remove the ModuVent steel plate.
7. How quiet is the case and what is ModuVent?
Steel front and side panels are lined with industrial sound-dampening foam. The ModuVent top panel lets you choose silence (solid plate) or airflow (remove plate and fit the supplied mesh filter).
8. Which front-panel connectors do I get?
2 × USB-A 3.0, headphone + mic jacks, power & HDD LEDs, and a reset button. (No USB-C on this model.)
9. How many drives can I install?
Inside the PSU shroud sits a 2-bay cage for two 3.5″/2.5″ drives, plus three dedicated 2.5″ SSD brackets behind the motherboard—five drives total.
10. What is the PSU length limit and does a shroud hide cables?
ATX PSUs up to 175 mm long fit, fully concealed by the integrated full-length shroud that also masks drive cages and excess wiring.
11. Can I swap the solid side for tempered glass later?
Fractal sells a separate Define C Tempered-Glass edition; panels are not cross-compatible, so you would replace the whole case rather than just the panel.
12. Is there room for vertical GPU mounting?
The Define C has no native vertical slots; you can add Fractal’s Flex B-20 bracket, but you’ll sacrifice the bottom 120 mm fan mount and need a PCIe riser.
13. What warranty does Fractal Design provide?
All Define-series enclosures carry a 2-year worldwide manufacturer warranty.
