FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ: Corsair VENGEANCE 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 (XMP 3.0)
1) Is this kit compatible with my PC?
It’s a standard DDR5, 288-pin UDIMM dual-channel kit for modern Intel LGA1700/LGA1851 boards and AMD AM5 boards that support DDR5. Check your motherboard’s QVL and make sure it accepts DDR5 UDIMMs (not SODIMM).
2) Is it tuned for Intel or AMD?
This specific VENGEANCE DDR5-6000 is optimized for Intel motherboards and ships with XMP 3.0 profiles. It will also run on AMD AM5 at JEDEC or manually tuned speeds, but for a one-click experience on Ryzen 7000, Corsair’s EXPO-tuned VENGEANCE kits are recommended.
3) What are the exact XMP specs (timings and voltage)?
Typical tested profile: 6000 MT/s, CL36-44-44-96, around 1.35 V on the current CMK32GX5M2E6000C36 revision (earlier/other revisions may specify up to 1.40 V). Always load the XMP profile in BIOS for rated speed.
4) How tall are the heatspreaders — will they clear big CPU coolers?
VENGEANCE (non-RGB) modules are ~35 mm tall — low-profile for excellent air-cooler clearance. (VENGEANCE RGB modules are taller at ~44 mm.)
5) Is DDR5-6000 a good “sweet spot” speed?
For many current Intel and AMD platforms, ~6000 MT/s is widely recommended as a practical, high-performance target for gaming and creation, balancing frequency and controller stability — great for plug-and-play with XMP.
6) Does this RAM have ECC?
Like other consumer DDR5, it includes on-die ECC (for internal chip error correction) but is not true ECC UDIMM with end-to-end error reporting; if you need ECC for workstations/servers, look for ECC-enabled boards and ECC UDIMMs.
7) Will it work if I don’t enable XMP?
Yes — your board will default to JEDEC (lower) speeds. To get the rated 6000 MT/s CL36, enable XMP in BIOS (Intel boards) or manually tune/enable DOCP/A-XMP equivalents on some AMD boards.
8) Can I mix this kit with other RAM?
Not recommended. Mixing different kits — even with the same part number — can reduce stability or force slower timings. For 64GB later, buy a matched 2×32GB kit or another factory-matched 32GB (2×16) kit sold as one SKU.
9) Is this single-rank or dual-rank?
Most 16GB DDR5 DIMMs are single-rank, but rank can vary by component sourcing and revision. Rank doesn’t change capacity; it can affect memory controller behavior slightly. Check your board manual for population guidance.
10) Does it need extra software (iCUE)?
No — this non-RGB VENGEANCE kit doesn’t require software. Just set XMP in BIOS. (Corsair iCUE is only for lighting/monitoring on RGB parts.)
11) Will it work with large air coolers (NH-D15, Dark Rock, etc.) or small cases?
The ~35 mm height keeps it compatible with most tower coolers and ITX cases. Always confirm your cooler’s RAM-clearance spec.
12) What’s the warranty?
Corsair VENGEANCE memory carries a limited lifetime warranty (region policies apply).
13) Any BIOS/UEFI tips to hit 6000 MT/s reliably?
Update to the latest BIOS, enable XMP 3.0, and populate the recommended DIMM slots (usually A2/B2). If needed, set System Agent/VDD rails to motherboard-recommended auto values and ensure your CPU’s IMC can sustain DDR5-6000.
14) Can I use four DIMMs (4×16GB) at 6000 MT/s?
You can, but many IMCs run higher speeds more easily with 2× DIMMs. With 4× DIMMs, you may need to reduce frequency or relax timings depending on the CPU/board. For 64GB, 2×32GB at 6000 MT/s is typically easier than 4×16GB.
